Education,

Skills & Learning

This area covers education and lifelong learning from nursery to retirement and beyond.  A wide range of learning opportunities are already available to everyone. Further work in this theme may provide opportunities that will include encouraging our young people to become active members of our community, improve the level of adults' basic skills and encourage people's access to ICT.

Key Issues

Key issues identified during community consultation included:

  • Making wider use of school facilities
  • More learning opportunities outside of towns
  • Raising basic skills
  • Promoting new ways of learning

What we will do

  • Encouraging shared learning
  • Reviewing accessibility to learning
  • Addressing the skills shortage
  • Seeking how to better utilise assets as opportunities for learning
