North Wiltshire Partnership

Local Strategic Partnership

So what

really

matters?

Across Wiltshire many groups, organisations and individuals are commited to improving the quality of life.  In North Wiltshire in each of the five community areas local people have formed Community Planning Partnerships.  These partnerships have identified local issues and areas of importance to their community and are working at a local level to try and address them.  The issues and plans for how to address them have been collated in the Community Plans for each of North Wiltshire's five community areas.

Not all problems can be solved at local levels and the community plans have shown that some issues are common across more than one community area.  This is where the North Wiltshire Partnership can help, by addressing some of those shared issues at a district level, or by supporting local groups to work together to jointly tackle common issues.  Similarly there are issues that are better addressed at a wider geographical level than the district of North Wiltsire.  There is a partnership at countywide level called the Wiltshire Strategic Board, this county level Local Strategic Partnership is working to address issues that impact across the county of Wiltshire.

The Network of partnerships operating at different geographic levels could be complicated, however all three levels of partnership have agreed to a common approach.  Where possible issues are addressed at local level, this helps keep the projects and actions in response to issues relevant and specific to the local community.

To help the different partnerships share information that communities, groups and organisations have identified can be grouped together in one or more of these themes.

This strategy website (and corresponding booklet) has been organised in those eight themes.  The Wiltshire Community Strategy and the five community area level Community Plans have highlighted issues and proposed actions in each of the themes and are laid out in a similar manner.

The Themes are:

A wide range of consultation has led to the summary of issues contained within these pages.  In addition to members of the Partnership local organisations shared the outcomes of their own consultation, the results of the 2004 Youth Conference have been included and the community area community plans and the work undertaken by those partnerships have provided a sound foundation to the district-wide picture.
